Shall We Dance: A Beginner's Guide to Ballroom Dancing

Shall We Dance: A Beginner’s Guide to Ballroom Dancing (SWD) Offers clear visuals and explicit instructions that are perfect for learning and Remembering dance steps.
Better than a paper book because you can search for the pattern you want. Zip to the page you want and you have a PRIVATE LESSON that Tells you and SHOWS you exactly what to do with your hands, feet, and the rest of your body.
Group classes are fun, but how many times have you been unable to see clearly what the instructor is doing? How many of your classmates have misunderstood, gotten it wrong and insisted that they got it right? Private instruction is MUCH better, but also 10x more expensive! SWD gives you the personal attention of a private lesson with a better price/performance than group lessons! Private lessons cost $50 for the time it takes to learn one or two step patters: $25 per pattern. Group lessons last for an hour or so for several weeks... you learn eight or nine step patterns and it costs from $50 to $90: $8 per step. SWD lasts as long as you want it to, and you learn 36 steps for $6: less than 25 cents per step!
VISUAL PEOPLE
Some people need to SEE where the dancers put their feet. The footprint diagrams are perfect for visual people. Everything you need to know about each step is shown in black and white.
Beginning Dance steps do not make a lot of use of the hands and arms compared to advanced steps, so the feet and where to put them are the key!
Put your feet where the diagram shows and step by step you will FEEL the pattern. The diagrams show how large a step to take, and in which direction relative to your other foot and your partner. Holding the book at eye level will give you the feeling of being on the dance floor (No need to look down at your feet… the will always be attached to your legs!) You can practice the step until your body remembers each motion by heart.
The music directs the dance. Listen to the beat and imagine moving with the music… The diagrams are the map and the music guides the flowing motion. The sounds translate into movements captured on the page.
Compare this book to dance lessons – Private ($$$) Group ($$) or Video ($$) all share one thing in common: when it is over there is nothing to remember it by! Videos have the advantage that you can play it over and over and over again until the instructor’s jokes make you wince, but if you need a refresher from a group or private lesson… it is called… ANOTHER LESSON!
SWD has the best aspects of a lesson and a video – Personal Attention and re-use… and it is geared to YOU.
